How to Install TWRP recovery using Odin

Odin is a freeware that almost all users must use for flashing/updating firmware to their Samsung devices. Samsung Odin is used for all sorts of things like flashing stock Samsung ROMs, custom kernels and custom recoveries like TWRP.

What is TWRP?

TWRP stands for TeamWin Recovery Project. TWRP is a fully touché base custom recovery which is initially developed for nexus devices. But now it is available for almost all smart phones and tabs in form of both official and third-party builds.  



As you can see TWRP interface is pretty much impressive. It has impressive modern recovery environment, especially compared to CWM. You get same features that expect from any modern and full-featured custom android recovery. And all in very organised with large touch-friendly buttons.

How to install TWRP using Odin

Below are the step by step instructions to install TWRP to your Samsung devices by using Odin.
Download Odin latest version
Unzip downloaded file
Run Odin
Download Odin flashable TWRP recovery .tar file which is compatible with your device
Enable OEM unlock your device (if applicable)
                Settings -> About phone -> tap on “Build number” seven-time to enable developer option
                Select “developer option” at main settings page
                Tick the “Enable OEM unlock” check under developer option
Boot your device into download mode
                Turn of your phone
                Press and hold home, power and volume down buttons
                Press volume up button at the warning screen
Connect your device to PC. Odin software will show as your phone is added. (Before connecting your phone to PC, install latest USB drivers)



Click on AP button at Odin (Don’t do anything other than selecting AP button)


Select TWRP recovery.tar which is downloaded earlier
Click on start button and wait for finish the process. After completing the process Odin will show as PASS



TWRP installing onto your phone is completed.

How to boot onto TWRP recovery on Samsung devices

Switch of the Samsung device
Press and hold power, home and volume down buttons for few seconds
Release buttons when you see the device logo on-screen

Now your device will boot into TWRP recovery.
